Design of the HYPER experiment at CERN

Bachelor Thesis

HYPER is a new project aiming at synthesising new hypernuclei by use of antiprotons at the Antimatter Factory of CERN. HYPER aims at the spectroscopy and measurement of the being energy of 200 hypernuclei. The project is in close collaboration with TU Munich and GSI.

During the bachelor thesis, the geometry of the new detector will be optimised from simulations. The optimisation will be performed by use of minimisation algorithms. The effect of material budget on the invariant mass spectroscopy of hypernuclei will be analysed in details.
