Simulation and installation of an expansion of the PUMA test trap beam line

Bachelor Thesis

The PUMA experiment at CERN utilizes antiprotons to investigate the surface structure of radioactive nuclei. Since transporting these antiprotons is critical, precise control of the antiproton plasma is essential, and a dedicated test trap is operated at TU Darmstadt. During the course of the Bachelor thesis, it is aimed to simulate, characterize and built in an expansion of the PUMA test trap beam line, which enables loading the trap with electrons and ions. After installation the goal is to optimize the number of electrons and ions being trapped.
