EBIS @ COALA: An EBIS Application in fundamental Research
2021/09/29
Our new EBIS has been chosen as an example for an application of these devices in fundamental research in the August issue of the Journal “Vakuum in Wissenschaft und Praxis”.

EBIS installed at COALA
2021/09/28
The COALA Beamline has been equipped with an Electron Beam Ion Source (EBIS), which opens up a new degree of freedom in collinear laser spectroscopy, namely the investigation of multiply charged ions. In our focus are especially light He-like systems.

Collinear Laser Spectroscopy in an MR-TOF
2021/08/17
First studies of collinear laser spectroscopy in a multi-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer adapted for laser spectroscopy appeared in the journal Nuclear Instruments and Methods A . It presents first studies with magnesium isotopes that were performed in the standard fly-by technique

Wavelength-meter calibration across the Atlantic
2021/07/29
To support collinear laser spectroscopy measurements of short-lived proton-rich nickel isotopes with the BECOLA experiment at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University (MSU), we measured absolute transition frequencies of three iodine lines in the 700-nm wavelength range with our frequency comb. Using similar setups on both sides of the Atlantic

Single-Particle Character above Tin-132
2021/07/02
The measurements of the magnetic and quadrupole moments of the ground state in 133 Sb and an isomer in 134 Sb with nuclear spin I=7 were performed at ISOLDE by collinear laser spectroscopy within the COLLAPS collaboration

COALA Beamline extended
2021/06/21
The COALA Beamline was extended with a switchyard that will allow us to connect several ion sources simultaneously to the apparatus, providing a higher flexibility for laser spectroscopy. An electron beam ion source (EBIS) will be installed at one of the additional arms end of September.
