The establishment of our laboratory at the TU Darmstadt and the set-up of the experiment for accurate high-voltage measurements (ALIVE: Accurate Laser Involved Voltage Evaluation) are progressing. A Ca+ ion source and the first part of the required beam line have been installed and initial tests yield high ion currents on a starting potential of 20 kV. In the next few weeks we expect further improvements through the installation of additional ion optics and efficient detection systems.
