Prof. em. Achim Richter receives Lise Meitner Prize 2024

Prof. emeritus Achim Richter will be awarded the prestigious Lise Meitner Prize 2024 of the European Physical Society (EPS). The former director of the Institute for Nuclear Physics (IKP) will be recognized for his long lasting merits and discoveries in nuclear physics research. His works had lead to important methodical progress too, as stated by the EPS. Richter was professor at the IKP from 1974 on and and retired 2008.

Besides him, Muhsin N. Harakeh of the University Groningen in the Netherlands will be honored with the Lise Meitner Prize 2024. Both had influenced the whole scientific community of nuclear physics.

The distinction is awarded every two years for outstanding contributions in experimental, theoretical or applied nuclear science. The Lise Meitner prize 2024 will be handed out this year end of September at the European Nuclear Physics Conference in Caen, France.
