Access

The research groups at IKP are distributed over several sites, e.g.,

Here you will find most of the experimental working groups, various workshops and the superconducting Darmstadt electron linear accelerator S-DALINAC.

In the Theory Center you will find most of the theoretical working groups.

Here you will find a few research-group rooms.

Magdalenenstraße 2A, courtyard, 64289 Darmstadt

This building is used by some groups during the redevelopment of the main building.

Here you will find a few experimental and theoretical research groups.

Access from Frankfurt Airport

From Frankfurt airport take the AirLiner bus (AIR) (to “Darmstadt Luisenplatz”. The bus leaves every 30 min, takes approximately 30 min and presently costs 10.40 €. From the Luisenplatz you can directly walk to the Theory Center or take a tram/bus to “Willy-Brandt-Platz” or “Kopernikusplatz” and walk from there to the IKP main building (see below).

Access from Darmstadt Main Station

At Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof, take a tram to stop “Willy-Brandt-Platz”

  • with number 1 to “Maulbeerallee”, or
  • with number 3 to “Lichtenbergschule”

or take a but to stop “Kopernikusplatz”

  • with number H to “Darmstadt-Kranichstein Kesselhutweg”, or
  • with number K to “Darmstadt Alfread-Messel-Weg”.

  • When stepping out at the stop “Willy-Brandt-Platz”: From there you can reach us within five minutes by foot. Follow the Bismarckstraße in east direction and walk straight through the large park (Herrngarten). After leaving the park you are in the Hochschulstraße and you can see both to your left and to your right old red-brick university buildings. Follow this street for about 100m until you reach a small square (Kantplatz). Turn to the left and follow the Schlossgartenstraße for another 100m. The Institute for Nuclear Physics is the second building on the lright-hand side (building number S2|14). The Theory Center is located across the street (building number S2|11).
  • When stepping out at the stop “Kopernikusplatz”: From there you can reach us within five minutes by foot. Follow the Lauteschlägerstraße in west direction (opposite to further direction of bus) for about 500m. You reach a small square (Kantplatz). Turn to the right and follow the Schlossgartenstraße for another 100m. The Institute for Nuclear Physics is the second building on the right-hand side (building number S2|14). The Theory Center is located across the street (building number S2|11).
