Spectroscopic quadrupole moments of the odd–even Mn isotopes between N=28 and N=38 have been measured at ISOLDE, CERN

Continuing our previous investigations on atomic manganese, the spectroscopic quadrupole moments of the odd–even Mn isotopes between N=28 and N=38 have now been measured in the ionic system using bunched-beam collinear laser spectroscopy at ISOLDE, CERN. Results have been published now in Physics Letters B and show an increase in the quadrupole deformation from N=36 onwards. Optical pumping in the ISCOOL cooler and bunching was applied to populate the metastable state in the ion.
