The public evening lecture by Prof. Klaus Blaum on the 70th anniversary of CERN at the TU Darmstadt was attended by about 300 guests and there was also lively interest in the subsequent exhibition.

At this year's Gerhard Herzberg Society (GHG) awards ceremony as part of the department's graduation ceremony, Julian Palmes was awarded the Gerhard Herzberg Master's Research Prize for his Master's thesis.

We measured transitions in Ti + ions, which were created by laser ablation from a solid target, thermalization in He gas and extraction through RF funnels. Our results are now published in Phys. Rev. A and of interest as reference
