Electromagnetic Moments of Sc-47,49 published in Physics Letters B

The electromagnetic moments of the scandium isotopes ^47,49Sc were measured in a common effort of the experimental collaborations COLLAPS and CRIS at ISOLDE/CERN. Our letter presents a first measurement of the quadrupole moment of ⁴⁹Sc and an improvement of an order of magnitude in precision of the other moments of the two isotopes.
This provides key data to the systematics of nuclear moments along the N=28 isotones and facilitates the investigation of the single-particle behavior and nucleon-nucleon correlations. Results are compared with shell-model and ab initio calculations.
