We are located on TU Darmstadt’s downtown campus near the city center, about 15 minutes walking distance from the central locations “Luisenplatz”, “Schloss”, “Marktplatz”, and “Willy-Brandt-Platz”.
Public Transportation from Frankfurt Airport:
From Frankfurt airport use the AirLiner bus (Schedule) to “Darmstadt Kongresszentrum” (Darmstadtium congress center). From the bus stop the distance to the Institute amounts to about 10 minutes, see map above. AirLiner buses leave every 30-60 (30 min during day hours), both from Frankfurt airport’s terminals 1 and 2. The ride takes approximately 40 min and costs presently 8,45 € to be paid in cash to the driver.
Public Transportation from Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof (central station):
At Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof, take tram line 5 to “Kranichstein”, bus line K to “TU-Lichtwiese/Mensa” or the regional buses 671, 672, NH, or RH starting at Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof. Exit the tram or bus at the fourth stop for 5 and K, third stop for 671, 672, RH, NH: “Willy-Brandt-Platz”. While you can buy a ticket from the bus driver (Darmstadt city, 2,20 € per ride), you need a valid ticket to board the tram. Tickets sold at vending machines are valid for all buses and tram lines except AirLiner for a single journey. From Willy-Brandt-Platz the Institut für Kernphysik is reached within five minutes walking distance: Follow Bismarckstrasse in eastern direction and walk straight through the large park (Herrngarten). After passing older brick university buildings, turn left on the small square (Kantplatz) and continue for about 100 m. The entry to the Institut für Kernphysik is on the right sideof the street (building S2|14), the theory center is the second building on the left-hand side (building number S2|11).
To reach the Institut für Teilchenbeschleunigung und Elektromagnetische Felder (TEMF) of the electrical engineering department, continue northbound on Schlossgartenstrasse for about 150 m until building S2|17 can be found on the left side of the street.
