Scientists from the SFB 1245 with colleagues from GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung and the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, proposed a new nucleosynthesis process denoted the νr-process. It operates when neutron-rich material is exposed to a high flux of neutrinos.

Prof. Atsushi Tamii was the lecturer of our Topical Lecture Week in Spring 2024 and presented 7 Lectures on “Nuclear Excited States Studied by Proton Scattering with a High-Resolution Magnetic Spectrometer” to the young Researchers of the SFB.

Phillip Imgram was awarded the Dissertation Prize of the Section Matter and Cosmos of the German Physical Society for his measurements on helium-like carbon ions.

Phillip Imgram will be one of 4 finalists for the Dissertation Prize of the Matter and Cosmos Section (SMuK) of the German Physical Society. This is a great success.

The President of the Max Planck Society has appointed Professor Almudena Arcones from the TU Darmstadt and from the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung as a Max Planck Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik (MPIK) in Heidelberg.

DFG extends Collaborative Research Centre 1245

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is extending two Collaborative Research Centres (SFB) at TU Darmstadt for a further funding period. One SFB is in the field of nuclear physics.
