Project A01: Precision structure of light nuclei

Project A01 will provide precision data on electromagnetic observables of light nuclei to sensitively test ab initio calculations based on chiral effective field theory. Key experiments include the measurement of the electric monopole transition form factor and the longitudinal response function of 4He using electron scattering on a suprafluid target at the S-DALINAC. We will use laser spectroscopy to determine the charge radius of the proton-halo nucleus 8B at ANL, USA, and develop a novel all-optical approach to determine charge radii of stable boron and carbon isotopes purely from laser spectroscopic data at the COALA setup at TU Darmstadt.
